The city-based BGMI event, Skyesports League 2024, kicked off on Wednesday by Skyesports. The competition is all set to take place in March 2024 in Mumbai. This could be dubbed the first city-based esports event, with 16 cities participating in it.
CEO of Skyesports, Shiva Nandy, mentioned that the competition will consist of city-based teams to scale up regional entertainment. He further said that the Skyesports League would mark the celebration of diverse Indian culture with a pinch of regional and localized flavors that have never been witnessed in the area of Indian esports.
As of now, there has been no word regarding the venue and the dates of the event. Speculations are that we will get to know about the same pretty soon.

All about the Skyesports League 2024
In the Skyesports League 2024, 16 names by the organization have already been given. Head of Global Business Partnerships at Skyesports, Shashank Bhandaru, said that the process of shortlisting organizations is one of the most crucial parts of Skyesports.
He added that the teams have not been selected randomly on the names of star players. Instead, the selection is based on the team’s ability to interact with the regional audiences, which is the main goal of the Skyesports League.

The cities that are going to be a part of the Skyesports League are Lucknow, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Ranchi, Vizag, Punjab, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Rajasthan, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. The organizations that are going to represent these cities have not been announced until now.
Skyesports and its involvement in esports
Skysports has served as a fuel for South Asian esports since 2018 and has launched multiple BGMI tournament series at regular intervals. Some of the most popular tournaments by Skyesports are the Skyesports Championship, Skyesports Grand Slam, and Skyesports Masters for CS2.

Furthermore, Enigma Gaming has already bagged a spot in the Skyesports League 2024 due to their win in the Pova Cup Season 4 (revolving around Battlegrounds Mobile India). As of now, it is not clear which region will be represented by Enigma Gaming in the Skyesports League 2024.
It will be interesting to see which teams are going to represent which regions in the game, as it will also impact the level of competition and thrill in the tournament.
