You will see the messenger app icon in the place of the DM icon after the update. Both the Android and iOS users can get the new update. This new Instagram feature is now available for both Android and iOS users.

The Android user must have the updated version and iOS users 165.0 to use this feature. You can update your Instagram from the Google Play Store and Apple Store. You have to also update your Facebook Messenger to send messages to Instagram contacts. The messenger must be the updated version for Android version and iOS version 287.1.

When you start using this feature. you will need to opt for the cross-messaging feature, The DM icon top of the right corner of Instagram will be replaced with the message icon after enabled the option. Also, Facebook allows users to take the profile picture and name from Instagram to the Messenger app on first installed.
