Nothing OS 4.0 Beta has been introduced to the Phone 3a series with exciting updates and major system improvements. The update brings Android 16-based features, redesigned visuals, and curated third-party apps for the first time.

The company aims to give users more control, creativity, and better phone performance through this Beta version before its stable release later.

Nothing OS 4.0 Beta Introduced to Phone 3a: Key Features

Nothing has officially started the Open Beta rollout of Nothing OS 4.0 for Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro users. This version is based on Android 16 and offers early access to several new system upgrades.

The update includes:

  • Redesigned icon system with a lighter visual style.
  • New Lock Glimpse feature that refreshes wallpapers automatically.
  • A camera preset called “Stretch” was developed with photographer Jordan Hemingway.

The Lock Glimpse feature adds a personal touch to the lock screen. It offers high-quality wallpapers from nine different categories. Users can swipe left on the lock screen to explore the feature.

It is disabled by default, allowing users to enable it anytime. In future versions, users can even replace these wallpapers with personal photos for more customization.

The Stretch camera preset improves image details with deeper shadows and brighter highlights. This feature helps users capture professional-looking photos directly from the camera app.

The new icon design follows Nothing’s minimalist identity. Icons now look cleaner and more uniform, matching the brand’s simple design language.

Pre-installed Apps and System Changes

Nothing is now experimenting with pre-installed third-party apps for the first time. Co-founder Akis Evangelidis shared that these apps are carefully selected for their popularity and usefulness. Examples include Instagram and other social apps that enhance user experience.

He confirmed that all pre-installed apps are optional and removable. This means users can delete them anytime if they prefer a clean setup.

Evangelidis explained that Nothing operates on thin margins and needs to make smart choices to stay financially sustainable while offering the best software experience.

He added that these apps are not bloatware, as Nothing values user control and privacy. The company also ensures that no personal data is collected without permission.

The Beta build also includes system improvements for stability and security. However, users may face heat or battery drain issues during the first few days as the system adjusts. All existing features from earlier OS 4.0 versions remain available.

How to Join or Roll Back the Beta

Users can join the Beta by installing the Nothing Beta Hub APK. Then, they can go to Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub to download the Beta package. The device must be on the latest Asteroids-V3.2-251013-1406 build.

The Beta window closes on November 7, so users must apply before that date. If needed, they can roll back to Nothing OS 3.2 using the rollback package. This process resets the device, so users should back up their data before switching.

The Final Words

The Nothing OS 4.0 Beta introduced to Phone 3a delivers a modern design, camera upgrades, and new personalization tools.

Nothing’s transparent and user-focused approach shows its effort to innovate while maintaining simplicity and trust.
