The microblogging platform said in a tweet on Friday, ” We’ve temporarily hit pause on rolling out access to apply for verification so we can make improvements to the application and review process”.

It has also said that” For those who have been waiting, we know this may be disappointing. We want to get things right, and appreciate your patience”. It has said in a statement after verifying the fake account,” We have now permanently suspended the account in question, and removed their verified badge, under our platform manipulation and spam policy”.

Twitter also said that it will add more categories later this year. Those categories will be for the scientist, religious leaders, academics. The Twitter account verification program will be re-launch soon.

It has relaunched the account verification program with six categories. The six types of notable accounts must be the Government, Companies, brands and non-profit organizations, News organizations and Journalists, Sports and e-sports, Entertainment, Activists, organizers, and other influential individuals.
