BSNL Starts Quantum 5G FWA Service in Hyderabad
In a soft launch, BSNL begins Quantum 5G FWA service. The launch happened at Ameerpet Exchange in Hyderabad. Shri A. Robert J. Ravi led the event. He is the CMD of BSNL and MTNL. He said Indian engineers created this new technology.
The service is SIM-less and very fast. No SIM card is needed in this system. It uses BSNL’s Direct-to-Device platform for access. Devices connect and work without any extra setup.
The internet speed is very high and stable. Download speed reaches up to 980 Mbps. Upload speed goes up to 140 Mbps easily. Latency stays below 10 ms always. This is best for 4K videos and cloud gaming.
The device is easy to set up at home. Most homes in Hyderabad can use it now. It uses the existing BSNL tower network. No digging or wires are required for setup.
BSNL’s Quantum 5G FWA Service Is Truly 100% Made in India
Quantum 5G FWA is fully built in India. It supports the Atmanirbhar Bharat program. All the core, radio, and hardware are Indian-made. Companies like TCS, C-DOT, ITI, and Tejas helped build it.
No foreign help was used in the setup. The project was completed with full Indian efforts. BSNL also got spectrum in the top 5G bands, which are the 700 MHz as well as the 3.3 GHz bands.
BSNL will use its 4G towers for 5G. These towers are already 5G ready. More than half are working now across India. So we can say it will be fully distributed fast and widely.
The name of this service is Quantum 5G or Q5G. The name came from a public naming contest. BSNL says the name shows speed and future power.
BSNL’s Future Plan and Tariff Details
The current launch is for testing user response. We are yet to see its full rollout. In September 2025, it will be rolling out some more cities with pilot service. Pune, Pondicherry, Gwalior, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, as well as Visakhapatnam are listed as the next cities.
Two starting plans are shared with customers. The Rs 999 plan gives 100 Mbps speed. Rs 1499 plan gives 300 Mbps high speed.
BSNL will also help small businesses with this. It will support smart factories and offices. The same 5G core will support enterprise networks. These will have strong connections with service guarantees.
5G testing is already happening in major cities. Some cities are Chennai, Patna, Delhi, Kolkata, and Jaipur. The full launch is expected soon across India.
