WhatsApp has recently rolled out the new Channels feature in more than 150 Countries including India. The new Channel Alerts feature allows personalities, celebrities, and users to deliver updates to their followers within WhatsApp. Now the meta-owned messaging app is rolling out a new feature called Alerts for Channel that will notify the Channel Creator about the status of their channels especially when they are restricted in specific countries.

WhatsApp new Channel Alerts feature for specific Android beta

The new feature will notify the channel creator if their channel’s visibility is restricted in certain countries. It will show an alert message that “Your channel is closed in this country.” The channel Creators will get an alert notification when their channel visibility is restricted or closed in particular countries due to legal requirements.

When the Channel is closed or restricted in a specific country this means the users with the phone number associated with that country will not be able to find or follow the channel. This Alerts feature shows that WhatsApp is dedicated to following local laws and protecting human rights while offering a safe and private platform for its users.

The new Channel Alerts feature is rolling out for the specific Android beta tester. The new Alerts feature to notify the channel creators about the status of their channels is available on the Android beta version 2.12.20.9 and above. Meta-owned messaging will soon roll out the channel alerts feature for everyone.
