WhatsApp’s New Alternative Profile Privacy
The meta-owned messaging app is developing a new feature that allows users to mask their information. The new ability to mask the profile will be available within the privacy screen regarding the profile photo. Users can configure a different photo and name that will be visible to those contacts who cannot see their primary or main profile and name.
If the users’ profile photo is set to a limited audience, they can show an alternate photo and name to people who can’t see their primary profile photo. If you set your profile photo to “Only your contact” can see your profile photo, this means that people outside your contact list cannot see it.
But they will be able to see your alternate profile picture that you set for your alternative profile picture. Users will be able to create an alternative profile for their primary profile that will be shown to users who are not able to see their primary profile photo and other information.
Any users who are not in your contacts list will be able to see your alternative profile photo and name instead of your real information. The new alternative profile privacy feature is currently under development. There is no information on when the new alternative profile feature will be available for users. But the meta-owned messaging app will soon roll out the new alternative profile feature for Android beta testers.
