Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta

Nothing has rolled out the Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta for the Nothing Phone 4a Pro. The Nothing OS 5.0 open beta is based on Android 17 and brings visual changes, personalisation, AI, and features.

How to download Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta on Nothing Phone 4a Pro

Before using the Nothing OS 5.0 open beta, make sure your Nothing Phone 4a Pro has the latest Android 16 firmware (Nothing OS 4.1). If your phone has Nothing OS 4.1, then follow these steps to install the new OS 5.0 open Beta:

  • You have to download the Nothing Beta Hub v2.0 app on your phone from the official Nothing Website.
  • Head to Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub, then tap Check version.
  • After that, tap the Join Beta button to register for the update.
  • Wait 5 to 6 minutes, and the Open Beta update will be seeded to your phone once you’re done registering.
  • Tap Go to initiate the OS update.

NOS 5.0 beta update will install on your phone in a few minutes, and after that, reboot your phone. You may see the error “joining the beta has failed” due to server overload. You can try again after a few hours if you get the joining the beta has failed error.

Nothing officially warns users about installing Open Beta updates, as they may contain bugs. If your phone gets bugs or becomes unstable on the beta, then you can roll back to Nothing OS 4.1.

One important thing to note is that rolling back to the older Nothing OS 4.1 will wipe your data, so update with new OS beta updates with caution. It is expected that the general release of the OS will be in early November 2026.

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta Whats New in it

Nothing Phone 4a Pro is the second phone to get the Open beta update. It offers a cleaner status bar with new icons, new clock faces, and home screen batch edits.
