WhatsApp is rolling out a new “Find Stickers” and “Create Custom Text Stickers” feature. This new feature enables users to search for stickers more quickly and create Custom Text Stickers. They can filter stickers inside the sticker section and use the relevant sticker.

With this feature, it is easier for users to start searching with just a single tap, as selecting a filter automatically inserts the associated keyword into the sticker search bar.

The new feature has been discovered on the WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.26.1.18. The meta-owned messaging app introduced seven filters: “Hi”, “Haha”, “Love”, “Sad”, “Wow”, “Yay”, and “Yes” for sticker search within the sticker keyboard.

When the user selects any filter, the filter automatically inserts the associated keyword into the sticker search bar. All the filters correspond to the categories that represent the largest groupings of stickers within WhatsApp that reflect the types of reactions and expressions that are most commonly used in individual or group chat conversations.

The meta-owned messaging app automatically inserts the related keyword into the sticker search field when the user selects any of the seven filters. Selecting the filter immediately triggers a search that looks for stickers associated with that word through predefined emoji mappings.

Stickers with matching emoji associations are therefore more likely to appear among the search results. All the saved stickers in the user’s personal library will be shown first, so familiar stickers are easily accessible for them.

The meta-owned messaging app will expand the search to external sticker sources used by the platform once it completes the checking of local collections. The external sticker source helps to find additional stickers that match the same emoji or textual intent.

As a result, users will get the new stickers without manually browsing public packs from third-party apps. The transition between personal library and global results feels seamless since everything is shown within the same result screen.
