WhatsApp releasing new Format Text Shortcut

WhatsApp allows users to format their text on Android, iOS, and Desktop for chat messages. You can format your text by placing certain characters before and after the word or words. It supports the Bold, Italics, Strikethrough, and Monospace.

You have to place an asterisk before and after the word or words *Hoga toga* to give Bold formatting to your text. You have to place an underscore before and after the word or words _Hoga toga_ to give italics to your text.

For the Strikethrough format you have to place a tilde before and after the word or words ~Hoga toga~ to give Strikethrough to your text. You have to place the three backticks before and after the word or words Hoga toga to give the “`Monospace“` format to your text.

Apart from putting certain characters before and after the word or words, you can select the text to format and tap the menu action BIU that’s faster than putting a certain character. WhatsApp named the formatting menu “Format” instead of BIU after the iOS 16 update.

You will see the format text shortcut when you select the text to format if you are using iOS 16. The iOS 15 and lower version users will still see the old BIU shortcut to format their text. WhatsApp 22.22.0.70 beta version supports the format text shortcut.
