The CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post that Brazil is the first country where the payment service widely rollout in WhatsApp. Today we are starting to launch the payment feature for users using WhatsApp in Brazil. We are making sending and receiving money as easy as sharing photos. He said that adding that small businesses will also be able to make sales right within WhatsApp. He also said that we are building on Facebook Pay, which provides a secure and consistent way to make payments across our apps.

Mark Zuckerberg said that WhatsApp is working with local banks in Brazil like Nubank, Banco do Brasil, Sicredi and Cielo the leading payment processor in Brazil for WhatsApp Pay for online payment in Brazil.

WhatsApp said in a blog post that it has built the payment with security and a special six-digit PIN or fingerprint will be required to authorized transactions. This security feature helps you to be secure from unauthorized and unknown person transactions.

You must have debit or credit cards to start this. The credit or debit cards must be from the Banco do Brasil, Sicredi, and Nubank on the Visa and Mastercard networks. We are working with Cielo, the leading payment processor in Brazil. We have created an open model to welcome more partners in the future.

Although the company was expected to launch a payment service for a large userbase only last year, But it delayed a full launch in India because of some reason. Its rivals in the country include SoftBank-banked Paytm, Flipkart’s, PhonePe, and Google Pay.

WhatsApp started the testing of the WhatsApp payment service in India on the million of users. There are huge numbers of users in India. WhatsApp will launch this feature shortly in India.
