WhatsApp banned 20 lakh Indian users’ accounts between 15 May and 15 June. It banned users’ accounts for abusing the platform’s services. WhatsApp’s first compliance report was published under India’s new IT Rules and the company said that these accounts are banned for abusing platform services.

WhatsApp received 345 requests in one month. These 345 requests include 70 requests for account support, 204 requests to ban accounts, 20 for other support issues, 43 requests for product support, and 8 requests for safety issues. The company took the action on the 63 requests.
