  • Users can set temporary filters that expire after 30 days.
  • You can block specific words, emojis, or phrases in Threads only.

Threads New Hide Words Feature Totally Separated From Instagram

Threads has become more independent from Instagram. Users can now manage hidden words only in Threads. Before, filters worked on both apps together. Now, you can create a separate list for Threads.

You can block words, phrases, and even emojis. This works in posts, replies, profiles, and searches. It helps users avoid unwanted or offensive content easily.

The hidden words feature lets users filter things personally. You can make your feed clean and comfortable. This change does not affect your Instagram filters at all. Threads and Instagram now work separately.

New Filters Now Come With Time Limits Option

Meta has added a smart time control feature. You can now set filters for a limited time. These filters can expire after 30 days.

This is useful for temporary topics or events. For example, you may hide trending news or spoilers. After one month, the filter removes itself.

This works like a “snooze” button for words. You avoid unwanted content for a short time. No need to delete the filter manually later.

You can also group similar words together. Words like “spider” and “spiders” can be combined. This saves time while adding filters.

How To Use This Feature Inside The Threads App

To use this feature, open the Threads app. Tap on your profile icon at the bottom. Now go to the settings at the top right.

Select Content preferences > Hidden Words from the list. You will see many options inside this setting.

You can enable or disable offensive word filters. Replies with these words go into a hidden section. But anyone can tap to see them still.

To add a new filter, tap + New filter. Enter the words, phrases, or emojis you dislike. Choose whether to block everyone or unknown users only.

You can also set a 30-day timer here. That filter will auto-expire after one month. If the option is missing, update your Threads app.

This feature is rolling out in steps for all users. Keep checking your app for the latest version.
